Our Approach
Kiron is a facilitative consultancy, meaning that we organize, assist and manage creative group processes. Our work typically involves a series of meetings, workshops, projects, trainings, and/or simulations. We use group processes to mobilize all the intellectual potential of the organization and to create buy-in for the change. We believe that the best solutions are the implementable solutions, which can only be generated through the full participation of all relevant parties
Systems Approach
The Management Paradigm of the last century has been "Scientific Management". This approach involves breaking an organization down into components, each of which can then be defined and controlled. This approach has generated much value for many organizations; it remains a valuable way of thinking, at the core of much of modern management.
An emerging body of knowledge recognizes the limitations of Scientific Management. It realizes that the results of Scientific Management alone cannot tell us how a number of different things will act together when confronted with multiple simultaneous influences.
Using a Systems Approach, or thinking in "wholes", reveals exciting ideas like self-organizing and self-renewing systems, and self-management. Kiron has expertise in developing learning experiences and business simulations, tools that are powerful ways of understanding the complexity of change.
Process Approach
The vast majority of management attention is given to "content" (the "what"), as opposed to "process" (the "how"); yet, world class performance depends just as much on the "how".
Process Approach is vital to any change initiative, because people invariably are more upset not by "what" is being done, but by "how" it impacts them. When the Process Approach is right, the result is unity of purpose and direction, no matter how difficult the circumstances.
By Process Approach, Kiron means addressing both the rational and emotional elements - the World of Facts & Logic, and the World of Emotion & Meaning. Stated another way, it means working with both the analytics and the journey. At Kiron, we use two models with our clients:
Story Approach
Since ancient times, an indirect method has been used to address the matters of culture, values, meaning and identity - the very heart and soul of a people. That method is the Story Approach.
The Kiron team has worked for over two decades developing and successfully implementing the Story Approach with its clients in a business setting. We draw on a variety of stories - timeless Myths and Legends, contemporary film, narratives of great achievement (and failure) - to provide engaging and relevant ways of examining the vital intangibles of the organization, including Brand and Culture. We also view the Story Approach as an essential skill of leadership, in that it provides a framework for persuasion.
